I only know of one on the road which goes towards Anderson, which would be west in the Hencoop Creek area maybe, about 6 miles from Honea Path, grave of a Trussell (James I believe). During road construction (mid 1960's) a worker notified the Anderson Independent about the grave or graves. My mother (1908-1968) read the article which she mentioned to me. Also there are Trussell graves on the road east from Honea Path near a creek, on land of late John C Taylor, Sr. Kay's lived on the right side of the creek and the Trussell's on the left (going from Honea Path). This was in the late 1700's early 1800's. My great- great - great grandfather , Rhodam Amos Trussell, Sr. (known as Old Man Rhody, according to my family members and the late historian Boyce Mitchell who had a Trussell grandmother) Anyway he, old man Rhody crossed the creek (foot log) to visit with the Kay's (Grace Kay)whom he married. According to my father, Everett Trussell and my grandfather , William Jasper Trussell (1871-1938)(buried Ware Shoals, SC) the tombstones were thrown in the creek when Taylor had the land cleared. My great-great- great grandmother Gracie Trussell was the daugher of Robert Kay, Sr. She, Gracie would not let her son, Rhodam Trussell,Jr. administer his father's estate which he asked to do. According to my Dad, he (Rhodam, Jr.)was also disinherited and received nothing, which was due to his drinking! His sister, Ann Trussell Hinton did receive from the estate. He, Rhodam Trussell, Jr. was very handsome, over 6 foot tall, blue-grey eyes, sandy colored hair and a War of 1812 soldier. My father Will. Everett Trussell(1896-1971) knew John C. Taylor very well. Dad took me to the gravesite, which Taylor destroyed. Dad said his great-great grandfather, (known as OLD MAN Rhoday Trussell) was buried there with his wife Grace Kay Trussell). Dad also said his grandfather, "Squire" took him there when he (Dad) was a young boy living in Honea Path. My great-Uncle Claude Trussell (1876-1956) verified the story exactly as Dad said. My great grandfather, John Jasper "Squire" Trussell died at the home of Claude Trussell , his son on Trussell Street, "Squire" built the house and several others on that street which they name for him ("Squire") It was said that Squire John Trussell had the best well water in town , and being near the school in Honea Path, all the school children loved him and would stop at his well for water. He is buried with his wife, Margaret Bagwell at Honea Path Presbyterian Church, along with their daughter Rose Trussell (she married Convoy Hughes) Also at the Pres. cemetery is Squire's infant daughter, Starke Trussell, and daughter Mary Trussell, and son Rhodam Trussell , Jr. (known as young Rhody). Also buried there is Barbara Cox Harper Trussell the second wife of Rhodam, Jr. Barbara and Rhodam, Jr were the parents of "Squire" and Mary Trussell. I don't know where Rhodam, Jr's first wife Elizabeth McAfee is buried, most of their children went west of SCar into Alabama,Texas, etc in the mid 1800's. A daughter, Rebecca Trussell Holland stayed in SC and is buried at Silverbrook in Anderson, Co, S.Car Mary Trussell above never married, but had a son Jim Trussell who is buried in Justice , West Va. with his wife, Vie Stafford. This is all the old graves in this area of South Carolina that my family were aware of.
