CEMETERY HISTORY:

The Last Will and Testament of Charles Webb of the District of Anderson and 
State of South Carolina.

Date of Will -- 14 July 1828
(Death -- 11 November 1831)

I, Charles Webb, considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of 
sound mind and memory (Blessed by Almighty God for the same.), do make and 
publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following, (That is 
to say,)

First, I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Edward (Edmund), a certain Negro 
girl named Rachel.

Second, I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Thomas Webb, a certain Negro boy 
named Moses, which Negro he had in his possession and has disposed of. I now 
give him one dollar, his part of the balance of my property.

Third, I give and bequeath unto my beloved son William, a certain Negro boy 
named Lowery.

Fourth, I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Micajah, a certain Negro boy 
named Ben, also a certain Negro boy named Sanford.

Fifth, I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Warren Robinson, a certain Negro 
boy named Sepp, also a certain boy named Elias.

Sixth, I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Clayton, a certain Negro boy 
named Phill, also a Negro girl named Nancy.

Seventh, I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Elijah, a certain Negro boy 
named Sim, also a Negro boy named Baylise.

Eighth, I give and bequeath unto my son Elisha, a certain Negro man named Edmond 
and his wife and children or their increase.

Ninth, I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Charles Baldwin, a certain Negro 
boy named Mark, also a Negro girl named Caroline.

Tenth, I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter, Nancy Terry, one dollar, it 
being the balance of her part of my property.

Eleventh, I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter, Frances Clark, one Negro 
girl named Hannah, also a certain Negro boy named Cifus.

Twelfth, I do give and bequeath unto my beloved wife, Mary Ann, one certain 
Negro fellow named Jerry and his wife Nana, also a certain wench named Ally to 
her own use and benefit during her lifetime or widowhood, and one bed and 
furniture, two horses and two cows and calves, half the stock of hogs which I 
may be left by now and half the stock of sheep, all to be kept and used by her 
during her lifetime or her widowhood, and at her death or at her intermarriage 
with any other man, all the above and aforesaid property to be sold and the 
money arising from the sale to be applied and distributed as follows -- Three 
hundred dollars to Warren Robinson Webb and the balance if any, to be equally 
divided between the other children.

I further give and bequeath unto my two sons Elisha and Charles Baldwin all that 
certain piece, parcel, and tract of land lying on Seneca River whereon I now 
live, including a small tract land containing one hundred acres that I lately 
purchased from Edmond Young, adjoining said tract, to be equally divided by the 
executors, they giving the part which the house now stands to Charles Baldwin 
and his mother, it being my request that my wife should live with her son 
Charles Baldwin during her lifetime or widowhood in this liberty and privilege I 
giver her in lieu of her dower.

I further give and bequeath unto my son Warren Robinson, Elisha and Charles 
Baldwin each one of them a feather bed and furniture and to each one of them a 
horse, Elisha and Charles Baldwin having their two young horses already chosen, 
and to each of the three boys a cow and calf.

I further bequeath and give unto my wife all the balance of the household and 
kitchen furniture to be kept and used by her during her lifetime or widowhood 
and then to be sold or disposed of in the same manner heretofore pointed out for 
the Negroes left to her.

I further and lastly order and declare that it is my will and desire that two 
Negroes not yet disposed of, a man by name of Bows and a wench named Alce, shall 
together with all the balance of my personal estate goods and chattels of what 
kind of nature soever shall be sold on a credit of twelve months for the express 
purpose of paying my just debts if it should happen that there should not be 
sufficient to pay my just debts I do direct and order that the wench before 
named by name of Ally be given to my wife to be sold for the purpose of paying 
said debts.

I further desire and order that at the death of my wife that the old man and 
wench given to her as before mentioned by name of Jerry and Nann his wife to be 
a liberty to make choice of which one of my children they would rather live with 
and that go to them and it is my desire that which ever child they should prefer 
to live with that they may take the said two Negroes.

I do hereby appoint Warren Robinson Webb and Elijah Webb my executors of this my 
last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me and made in 
witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this fourteenth day of July, one 
thousand eight hundred and twenty-eight.

Signed sealed published and declared by the above Charles Webb to be his last 
will and testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names 
as witnesses in presence of the testator.
