CAMP CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH

Camp Creek Baptist Church was begun under a brush arbor in 1889, by Robert
Childs. Smith Rollins, Tull Holliday, and Mr. Thomas. From the brush arbor, the
small group moved to a one-room wooden structure. The church was built on the
hill that is now the Camp Creek cemetery, just the other side of the "wagon
trail" that is now Camp Creek Road.

Some of the early pastors included Charlie Atkinson, Charlie Garrett, Fulton
Childers, Jim Davis, Lloyd Pace, Paul Hayes, R. F. Jones, Tom Martin and Wade
Nicolson.

In 1947, the church constructed its first cinder block building using sand
hauled from the old dam in Cateechee.

In 1972, the present building was constructed. Since then the front has been
remodeled, fellowship building added, and parsonage bought. Pastors since 1972
have been Ralph Home, Charles Worley, Robert Mullinax, Russell Baker, and
currently Ernest Lundy.

The first annual Missions Conference was held in 1977, supporting 10
missionaries. In March, 1995, we held our 18th Missions Conference. We now
support 75 missionaries around the world. On May 21, 1989, Camp Creek Baptist
Church celebrated its 100th anniversary. With a record attendance of 261,
pastors, guests, and dignitaries were honored.

Over the years, Camp Creek Baptist Church has enjoyed the blessings of the Lord
in its various functions. The church has grown from 5 members to a steady 140+
membership. We have held to the fundamental truths taught in the Bible and
believe this is the reason the Lord continues to bless this church.
