Payne at otime1@yahoo.com in Apr-2004 o----------o The cemetery in back of my house has an Elizabeth Stewart Parrott born in 1848. She died in 1879. There is a tombstone for an Oscar Parrott, son of D. A. and Elizabeth Parrott. I think this is the same cemetery you are talking about because Leroy has been up there several times. I went to the cemetery yesterday, it needs a good cleaning. I am going to tell Leroy about it at the meeting. Albert Nix (90 years old) my neighbor who knows the history about the Mile Creek Community, said it was a cemetery for the community. I do think the Parrot's own the land where I live at one time. There is approximately 15 graves in the cemetery. All are unmarked except for the Parrotts and Newtons. There is one tombstone for Billy Newton born in 1802, he died in 1886 and his wife Elmia born 1804. She died in 1840. Their sons, Nathan, Mitchell and Sammie's names are on the same tombstone. I believe they are buried there too. Albert told me that the preacher that organized Mile Creek Baptist is buried in this cemetery. His name was T. W. Tollison who died in 1884. Albert said a Mrs Herd was buried there too. Mrs Herd's daughter was Rosie Herd that married Walter Seborn. I can spend hours talking with Albert. by: Nancy ? in Mar-2006
