CEMETERY HISTORY:
------------------------

In 1947, a church was organized under the name Gospel
Tabernacle on FIwy. 137, Norris, South Carolina. The first pastor
was Rev. Maze Chambers. The church met in a house using its
one-of-a-kind church steeple, a table leg given by Minnie
Mauldin. Louise Tant, one of our present members, still has the
table leg. In 1949, Rev. Garland Sentell became the pastor and the
name was changed to Faith Baptist Church. During that period of
time, the church experienced a great revival with 106 professions
of faith. A new church building was built in 1955 and the old
house was moved to another location. In the early 1960s, a
fellowship building and a parsonage was built. The woodframed
church building was remodeled and bricked. Several well-known
preachers have come out of the church, and among them are:
Rev. Hovie Revis, Jr., Rev. John Revis, Dr. Wyatt Mullinax, Rev.
Howard Watson, Rev. Doyle Johnston, Rev. Frank Barrett, Rev.
Willard Coleman, Rev. Bud Allsep, Rev. Alien Moore. On
August 10, 1980, the church called Rev. Gary James as pastor, and
he is still the pastor at the time of this writing, August 13, 2003.
In 1992, the fellowship building was doubled in size. In 1998, the
church purchased 25.5 acres of land just 1/8111 mile east of the
present church location. It is the long-range plan to relocate to the
new property. The church has been a member of the Piedmont
Baptist Association since 1949.
